It is an unleaded fuel with no metallic additives and will not harm the oxygen sensors in modern-computer controlled engines. It is fortified with corrosion inhibitors to combat corrosion. In high compression gasoline engines, the compressed gasoline-air mixtures have a tendency to ignite prematurely rather than burning smoothly. This creates engine knock, promoting a stalling effect of the engine, a characteristic rattling or pinging sound in one or more cylinders.
